Vineyard Development.

A proven approach to the establishment of functional vineyards.

Following years of working in this space, Landform Surveys, in collaboration with experienced Vigneron Tim Brown, have developed a proven approach to the establishment of functional vineyards from green field to completion. Utilising the latest technology, including drones, survey grade GPS, computers, and software, we can map out a site-specific layout and bring this vision to fruition.

We’ve developed a proven process to achieve the best results.

1. Aerial Survey

Utilising the latest Remotely-piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) drone equipment, we can effectively cover large areas of land in the field. Utilising photogrammetry we can provide a high resolution orthomosaic image of the site along with an associated 3D terrain model.

As commercially licensed Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) RPAS pilots with a Survey and Civil Engineering background, we pride ourselves in the production of functional, survey-grade accurate data sets. This is achieved by placing surveyed ground control points around the site and operating RTK/PPK enabled RPAS.

2. Cloud Based Data Access

.

Once the aerial survey is completed, we upload the data to a cloud-based software called Trimble Stratus powered by Propeller.

This software allows the user to interrogate the data in a 3D environment. In addition the user can now access the data on a new mobile platform called Crew.

Design and ‘As Constructed’ information can be uploaded, and overlaid on the site.

3. Vineyard Layout

.

From this accurate base data, we can draft up design overlays of vineyard plantings, underground services, storm water drainage, road networks, buildings, etc. As qualified Civil Engineers we have extensive experience in these design areas. From computer design we can load these files into GPS enabled construction machinery and survey equipment. This allows accurate vine row ripping, construction of earthworks, roads, drainage, and services.

4. Set-out and Survey.

With the recent introduction of a survey grade accurate GPS hire service, clients can now set out vineyard posts and infrastructure at their leisure, knowing we will take care of calibrating the equipment to their site. Through the equipment network link, we can remotely download any survey information the client has recorded during construction for upload to Trimble Stratus.

Use of this hire service can translate into considerable cost savings to the client.
